The Family Behind J Hook's Hatchery...

J Hook's Hatchery is owned by husband and wife duo, Curtis and Ashley Jenkins. They started this adventure to help provide a hands on agricultural experience for their 5 children. With Curtis's knack for agriculture and wildlife, Ashley's interest in the genetics aspect of quail, and both of their interpersonal skills, they began the journey to create J Hook's Hatchery. After several months of research and trials, they decided the best fit for the family would be the Japanese Coturnix Quail. Their prolific egg laying and hearty meat production made them a perfect choice for a family of 7.  Their 5 children all have picked out their own quail trios and are responsible for caring for them.  Curtis and Ashley wanted to provide their children with the opportunity to learn the value of hard work, but with a twist. The children are able to help hatch the eggs and watch them grow into adult birds that provide the family with eggs to hatch or eat, as well as meat. In the end, they wanted a way to provide for their family, whether it be by providing food, money, or the opportunities to help their children grow their character. What started out as a simple family project soon grew.  Many people expressed interest in the quail and their eggs, which led the duo to hatch a plan to grow the family farm into a business.  Hence, J Hook's Hatchery was... HATCHED!
